We've all sat for hours scrolling through satisfying Hydrojelly™ Mask videos, falling deeper in love with those sweet electrolyte infused clouds of jelly with each second. And if you haven't...trust us, you will. The satisfaction is undeniable.
The Hydrojelly™ Mask, Jellymask™ and Rubbermask™ are range of peel-off masks created by Esthemax. Now, rubber masks and alganate masks have been around in professional beauty treatments forever, but after several innovations, Esthemax invented the famous Hydrojelly™ Mask we all know today.
Packed with new electrolyte technology, the most refined alginate and no clay, Hydrojelly Masks are not only mesmerising, but also extremely beneficial to the skin.
The skin can't actually absorb or retain water without the proper balance of electrolytes. And the less hydrated your skin is, the more insufficient your cellular processes become. By infusing electrolytes into your skin, the Hydrojelly™ Masks deliver optimal hydration and improve your overall skin health whilst being able to target different skin concerns.
But of course, there are imitation masks out there claiming to be Hydrojelly™ Masks whilst delivering your skin with ✨unknown✨ benefits.
But never fear, here's how to spot the difference:
*** Note on Corn starch as an ingredient: Corn starch while not in any way dangerous to the skin, it is a moisture absorbing ingredient. Have you ever made gravy a little too watery and have used corn starch to absorb the moisture & thicken the sauce? This is exactly what it does in the Imitation masks.
This means that if corn starch is made up as the base ingredient of an imitation mask, the skin goal of "hydration" becomes counteracted. It doesnt really make much sense to use an ingredient that absorbs hydration & moisture when you are trying to deliver hydration into the skin. Many imitation brands also used this as a base ingredient because it is super cheap.
Tip: If you want to know whether a Hydrojelly™ Mask is real or fake, just look for the Esthemax logo on the original packaging.

With 60% of Australians in lockdown & beauty businesses in a forced physical closure, continuing to drive your business forward can feel impossible. But it is possible to drive growth to mitigate losses & thrive, and it starts with connection, no big warm hugs just yet, just the virtual ones, Kelly from Skin Queen is going to share with you how to connect with your audience through Covid lockdowns.
Meet Kelly Noone, From therapist to clinical educator to social media whiz within the professional beauty industry! Kelly, otherwise known as SkinQueen, loves helping beauty business owners with growing their social media prescence to help them engage their audience and conver their followers into lifelong clients!
Kelly’s advice: As beauty business owners, we generally thrive off & get our energy from interacting with our clients daily & helping them with their skin! So if you are in lockdown & have been feeling unmotivated, uninspired & unsure what to even work on during this time, just know that what you are feeling is COMPLETELY normal!
However, now is an amazing time to start building that connection & relationship with your audience ONLINE!
This will not only help your current clients to feel connected to you but also attract new clients into your business when you re-open!
Unsure where to start?
Start with stories! It can be a little uncomfortable or scary when you first show your face on socials, but just know that no one thinks your silly for doing so!
In fact, the chances are you'll light up someone else's day for simply showing up are massive!
Stuck for story ideas? Here are my tips:
- Show you having your morning coffee, make it more dynamic by first filming it on your camera app, speeding it app in the "InShot App" & adding music to it on Instagram stories
- Show any product orders you are packing and sending! Include a poll with a question: "do you need a top up on products in lockdown?" to generate interest & potential leads for product sales!
- If you are going into your salon, show you walking into the salon and include a question box: "what's the first treatment you want to have post lockdown?"
- Throwback content from previous skin results you've achieved works really well!
Additionally, don't be afraid to show your daily routine as a business owner in lockdown!
Even if that means reading books outside or taking your dog for a walk! People will be able to relate & connect with you if you are doing this.
The more you can work on strengthening that Know, Like & Trust factor with your audience online, the more likely they are to convert into clients!July 29, 2021
I would say that SPF is the baseline and the cornerstone in a skincare routine. Most skin concerns such as pigmentation, melasma, ageing, laxity, skin cancer and even acne flare up are caused by unprotected sun exposure. And the main "job" of skincare products is prevention - slow down the ageing process and make your skin cells work properly. SPF is the basic of basic to prevent ageing and sun damage. You may be able to skip your Retinol and AHA's products but you should never skip SPF.
Most people know about the importance of SPF but thinks the makeup with SPF15 is enough, and on cloudy days or if you're staying inside you don't need SPF. Or even thinks the SPF is too greasy and makes them breakout. There is also a misinformation about the SPF and Vitamin D synthesis.
As much as we speak about SPF and prevention, unfortunately, people only learn about SPF when the sun damage starts to show up in their late 20's early 30's. What they don't understand is that the damage of the "sun bake" you had in your teens will only show up years later. Educating people since they are little to create the habit of applying and reapplying SPF everyday is the way to go. SPF should be considered as an essential everyday task such as brushing your teeth and taking shower.
In the past 10 years working in the beauty industry I have worked with so many cosmeceutical brands and I guess science and the world has changed the way we see skincare nowadays. Today I look for brands with principles and for formulations with non synthetic ingredients, no nasties, not tested in animals and sustainable. The skin is the largest organ in our body and we need to choose carefully what we are applying on it, and we also need to care about the environment.
Thankfully, today we are able to combine science based, results driven and natural ingredients in skincare products. Saying that, I would always prefer mineral SPF such as zinc oxide because it is natural, it is a physical protector which means it reflects the sunlight instead of absorbing. I also like hydrating SPF because you optimise the morning skincare with less products to layer. And a broad spectrum SPF50 that protect against UVA UVB and blue light.
I also like to have a mineral powder with SPF in my bag so I can reapply the SPF protection throughout the day, just an extra skincare tip!
When we talk about acne, rosacea and sensitive skin types it is important to prepare your skin before applying SPF with other skincare products that will target and treat your concerns. But some SPF ingredients are very irritating for acne and sensitive skin such as; benzophenones (like oxybenzone), cinnamates, octocrylene, certain preservatives like quaternium-15 and fragrance.
I have clients that think the same. I reckon it is because they had a bad experience with some greasy SPF brands that clog your pores and they generalise to all SPF, but it is not true. It all depends on the formulation and some ingredients can irritate and cause a chemical reaction on the skin that leads to breakout. My favourite SPF ingredient for acne is zinc because it also controls oil, is anti-inflammatory and antibacterial.
Also, just be aware that when you change actives ingredients or brands in your skincare routine, your skin can breakout for the first 1-2 weeks and it is normal.
Mineral Always!

Beauty at Bliss is a premium skin and beauty spa located in Menai.
I have always said that SPF is the best anti-ageing product you can get! If you ask any of my clients, they will tell you that I am the biggest advocate for sun protection.
A lot of clients come through our doors wanting us to treat pigmentation, sun damage, fine lines, and wrinkles. They invest in their treatment plan and skin products to maintain their results but if SPF isn’t used there is only so much, we can do in clinic for their concerns. Also, a lot of professional treatments we as skin therapists perform can make our skin more sensitive to the sun for a period of time making SPF even more crucial in the days following a professional treatment.
Sunscreens have come a long way over the years. Formulations have improved a lot. No longer do we have thick sticky and smelly sunscreens that leave an awful white cast when trying to take the perfect selfie. This is a huge bonus.
A lot of women don’t apply sunscreen as it’s already in their makeup or their daily moisturiser. Depending on their day this simply isn’t enough to fully protect them from sun exposure.
Often clients will say that they work indoors and don’t need SPF but if they are dealing with computer screens all day, they are having HEV (High Energy Visible Light) exposure from their screens which can be damaging to the skin. Maybe they sit by a window or eat lunch outside at a café. SPF is an essential part of your skincare routine whether you’re inside or outside for the day.
I think that is the biggest reason sunscreen gets neglected.
Something lightweight, easily absorbed, light to no scent, no white cast and filled with skin loving ingredients. Blue light protection is also a must. Sunny Skin ticks all the boxes!
Fragrance! SPF with added fragrance may smell nice but they can cause skin irritation for sensitive skins and inflammation for those post in clinic treatments.
Definitely not! When the right SPF is selected for your skin, then you don’t have to worry about pesky breakouts. Some sunscreens even have additional skin supportive ingredients that help with skin concerns such as breakouts.

Lash Delight & Beauty is a professional and personalised lash, brow and skin sanctuary located in Nundah.
"My name is Jess Kenealy and I am the sole operator and owner of a home studio clinic called 'Lash Delight and Beauty' in Nundah, Queensland. My journey into the beauty business was one of those that took time. I have always wanted to do beauty work, but at the same time for years due to other responsibilities i ended up settling in my office work for years which i did enjoy and the environment but thankful for fateful day my husband decided to move abroad again due to his work.
For the second time, we moved to Doha, Qatar in the Middle East. I was going to become a stay at home wife and mum again. Then the light bulb moment happened when I told my husband that I’m always having to resign my work and relinquish my position which I was happy to stay in, but I then told him since this is the second time I’ve had to leave comfortable work, I will start learning and training in beauty! So I did.
Soon after, I did my first beauty training in lashes - with Yumi Lashes France. I never looked back. This type of beauty work kept me very busy and occupied while living an expat life abroad, and while being a mum at the same time. It was the best decision ever made. It then helped me create and start my online presence with social media, as I knew if I ever returned home that I would have work featured already and won't appear like I’ve just started. This eventually lead to clients finding me when starting fresh upon our return to Brisbane.
We returned to home on September of 2018, I was in negotiation to return to my employment as a contractor. It seemed like it was good to go, the recommencing of work date wast set and it was just a waiting game. But then I think the universe had other plans, I was told that the role and job is not going ahead due to less funding and that positions were full and technically they did not require a contractor in the end. And so I began to really look into setting up my home business.
In November of that same year, I started up my home business - starting up a little quiet but as the months rolled in I knew it was the best decision made! The first year was all about getting out and establishing clients, second year was still all about the that too, but more settled even if Covid challenges happened. After that it was almost a blessing as many people wanted to support small business, which myself and I am sure other small businesses appreciated! Moving forward, I eventually trained into brow design with True Brow, then moved on to skin work with facials and of course now partnered with your wonderful brand to be able to deliver these amazing treatments!
I am now also the Trainer of Yumi Lashes Australia in Brisbane. Facilitating private training in my premises or delivering it on behalf and through Beaute Internationale as well which is one of our biggest beauty distributors here in Queensland.
So since then, I gained loyal clients and some travelled far to come to me which is just so lovely! I always thought it would have been easier to go somewhere convenient but I really did meet the loveliest clients who are happy to come when I am able to fit them in rather than the other way around! I always said that I was lucky! But a wonderful client reminded me that it’s not just luck it’s because I worked hard and remained professional to be able to keep this thing going. So thankful for that reminder!
It’s amazing what passion and turning it into my “little career” can do! Finding a meaning and purpose within your work is the best thing! Still some people don’t get to experience and I will never forget when I decided to just dive into it. I was feeling brave enough and I wanted to try because it had a good effect on me and purely just because it made me happy! Helping others look and feel their best! From having zero clients to having my lovely clients now....definitely the best decision I ever made!
I used to think starting a small business was daunting but I thought - give it a shot because it’s always better to say 'I’ve tried' than just asking myself 'what if?!' Keeping a small business going is not easy and not as pretty as my social media content, but If you love what you do and have passion for it, then the journey and the people you meet is definitely the reward!"
Thank you so much Jess for sharing your beautiful story.

Peachy Skin & Body is a refreshing home beauty clinic located in Melbourne.
My journey began 13 years ago when I was 17 years old and was feeling the pressure of what to do as a career, I knew I wanted to spend every day of my life doing things I enjoy while making others feel good about themselves. So, I decided beauty was my calling! That year I started at Elly Lukas beauty college and also got a part time job at a local nail & beauty salon where I learnt the fundamentals of beauty therapy and client-care.
Every salon can be successful in their own way, but I have found customer rapport the most important. I love getting to know my customers and having fun with them. Showing them my true self is what helps customers feel at ease. I am also a big believer in knowledge is power, I love to educate my clients during their skin treatments about what is best for their skin concern, and I find clients really love that too as it shows I care about helping them achieve results.
For myself it is the white lotus silk eye mask, it instantly puts me to sleep and feels so comfortable (not sure if this falls under the Esthemax products, so this doesn't need to be added if so). I cannot live without the Esthemax hydrojelly masks, once I introduced them to my customers they absolutely loved the feeling of them. Not only do they look pretty, they're actually packed full of skin loving ingredients that instantly leave the skin looking healthy.
I would tell them that learning the fundamentals first is so important and is what will make you a great therapist. Learn from the more experienced therapists around you, and be humble. It can be a small industry where everyone knows everyone, so never burn bridges. Keep going until you find our niche, there are so many different avenues in this industry, so don't give up.
Once I introduced Esthemax I was able to customise my client's treatments and results that little bit more which was great. Plus, social media wise, people were really loving the photos of the masks!
This year my goals are to concentrate on gaining new customers, renovating my beauty room, and introducing more modalities that I'm very excited about!

JY Laser & Skin is a hub of aesthetics dedicated to making you feel good, located in Craigieburn.
My journey began over 4 years ago when I decided I wanted to peruse my passion for laser and skin. I successfully graduated from Elly Lukas Beauty College gaining my Beauty Diploma. Since then I have worked in a number of clinics to better my skills and knowledge as well as completing many other certificates to ensure when the day came to open up my own business I would be fully qualified for all the treatments I was performing. In February 2021 I successfully opened my own Laser and Skin Clinic, JY Laser & Skin Clinic.
What makes my Clinic successful is that I pride myself on being a qualified therapist in all treatments I provide and educating my clients. I have invested in only the very best for my clients using the #1 Laser hair removal technology in the world the Lumenis Splendor X. Proud to say I have one of the three machines in Melbourne.
I would not be able to live without my Hydro Jelly Masks, they are literally my new obsession and all my clients have been loving them. They have made a great contribution to my skin treatments.
Peruse what you love to do, never give up and never be afraid to ask for help. Get your qualifications so that you are more confident and knowledgeable to ensure you are giving your clients the best.
After introducing Esthemax my clients have been loving the end results to their treatments and how amazing the difference has been from adding the jelly mask to their treatments. Can’t wait to add many more esthemax treatments in the future.
My goals for this year is to grow my business and educate all my future clients to ensure everyone is being treated correctly to suit their skin and needs. Ensuring all my clients are happy with all of their treatments and to hopefully add a lot more treatments to JY Laser & Skin.

Plasma Skin Tightening is an advanced skincare and tightening clinic located in Mullaloo.
I started with cosmetic tattooing and skin needling in 2012. Beauty and Skin was always my passion and I absolutely love my work and my wonderful clients who have been with me for many years now. Over the years, I got qualified in Dermal Therapies like Plasma Skin Tightening, IPL, Laser, Peels and advanced facial treatments.
I guess it is my passion for skin and the science behind as well as my eye for detail. Customer care is a priority and client concerns are taken seriously. Throughout my studies I have learnt a lot and love to share my knowledge with my clients. Clients need to be educated so they can understand why I'm suggesting certain treatments, they have to understand the science behind. The industry is moving fast and in our salon we are always up to date with new regulations, technologies, new treatments, safety standards and educational standards.
We absolutely love the HydroJelly masks e.g Phyto Nutrient Blast or Antioxidant Goji. Also the Enzyme Powder is very popular in the salon. For our acne clients we have wonderful results with the Spot Diminishing ALA mask combined with LED Light Therapy. So happy to work with the Esthemax range who delivers powerful and great results for our clients.
Specialise in an area you are really interested in. Clients can feel if you are just doing your job or if you are passionate in what you do. If you love what you do, you don't have to work a day...
My clients absolutely loved it and within a few weeks we got a lot of new customers asking for Esthemax treatments. Regular clients recommended the treatments to friends and family.

Glow is meticulous haven of beauty located in North Lakes.
15 years ago as a Makeup Artist. I worked as a Makeup artist for many years for Channel 10, Fox Sports and more weddings than I can count. I love all things Beauty but I'm also a science nerd. I was craving something that would combine the two = Beauty Therapy.
My passion for my clients results and genuine care about them.
Can I pick two? Hyaluronic Hydrojelly and the Enzyme mask.
Figure out your why. Why do you want to be in this industry and do you have a genuine care for your clients and their lives?
Esthemax has allowed me to add some beautiful yet effective professional products into my salon that are different to what a client can buy off the shelves of our cosmetic retail giants. Esthemax also works with businesses of all sizes and provides so much support and training.
Aside from continuing to add new treatments and equipment; opening a salon in a commercial space here in North Lakes and building a team around me who share my ethos about looking after and educating clients. I'm already keeping my eye out for Therapists and Lash Technicians who would be a great fit for the Glow team!
